Update: Jun 06, 2013
The Government officially agreed with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's proposal of continuing visa waivers for single-entry visas from seven major tourism markets, said Head of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, Nguyen Van Tuan.
In recent time, information related to visa exemption scheme for nationals of Russia, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, the Republic of Korea and Japan worried travel agencies. The Vietnam Tourism Association proposed that the Government continue visa waivers for visitors from the major markets, especially in the current difficult economic circumstance, fearing that a visa requirement will undercut Vietnam tourism's competitive advantage.

Currently, countries in Southeast Asia is applying clear visa scheme for foreign tourists. For example, Thailand allows free entry of people from 55 countries, and citizens of around 150 countries and territories do not need visas when they visit Singapore and Malaysia.
