Exhibition to mark Japan - Vietnam Friendship Year 2013
Update: May 31, 2013
A cutting-edge contemporary art exhibition titled “Winter Garden”, co-organised by the Japan Foundation Centre for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam, the Consulate-General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City and the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam to mark the Japan - Vietnam Friendship Year 2013, will take place from June 8 to July 21 in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city.
The exhibition features 35 works including drawings, paintings, and video works by 14 young Japanese artists active from the latter half of the 1990s throughout the first decade of the 21st century.

The artists present their distinctive views of the world through the combination of fragments, imbuing the obsolete or the commonplace with new functions or meanings, and sharing the similar style of expression.

It is noteworthy that this exhibition includes three video works by Koki Tanaka, who has been selected as the representative artist for the Japan pavilion at the 55th International Art Exhibition titled "la Biennale di Venezia" in Italy.

Through the exhibited works, the visitors will understand how Japan's artists, living in an increasingly globalized world and in a time when shared values are hard to establish could see the contemporary world.
