Boosting activities ramping up to capital city’s 1,000th birthday
Update: Aug 27, 2009
Leading up to the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi and the National Tourism Year 2010, the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism will organise series of activities to promote tourism in Japan and China.

The promotional campaign will take place in September in four Japanese cities: Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka and Nagoya. In cooperation with the National Administration of Tourism, the department will also attend Asia’s largest tourism fair, JATA, in Japan.

Also, campaigns to promote Vietnam as a travel destination will be held in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, China in November.

Furthermore, the department will attend the Travex fair within the framework of the Asian Tourism Forum (ATF)  in Brunei next January.

Hanoi will invite its Chinese sister cities and provinces, including those within the “two corridors-one economic belt” area, Guangxi, Yunnan, Guangdong and Hainan, to attend an international tourism festival in October 2010. It will also ask for their assistance in attracting more Chinese visitors.

Foreign embassies based in the city will be asked for their help in disseminating information of the celebration of the capital city’s 1,000th founding day and activities leading up to the National Tourism Year via their websites.
