International Gong Festival to be held in November
Update: Aug 10, 2009
Central Highlands Gia Lai Province will organise an international gong festival in Pleiku City from November 12-15, the provincial People’s Committee said on August 7.

The festival, which is expected to welcome more than 30,000 visitors in and outside the country, is a good opportunity for the province to introduce the public to their cultural heritage and create tours for visitors.

The provincial People’s Committee chairman Pham The Dung said the festival aims to honour the value of the gong culture in Vietnam’s Central Highlands which was recognised in UNESCO’s third list of “Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity”.

Central Highlands’s gong performances will be held at many tourism sites such as Dong Xanh Cultural Park, Dien Hong Park and 17/3 Square during the event.

A number of local festivals and other trade and economic activities will also be held.
