Railway carriage revitalises heritage tourism
Update: Aug 11, 2016
After a month of thorough preparation, the Heritage Path tourist railway carriage began its first journey, carrying 24 tourists on board on August 8.

The tour is the result of the cooperation between Hue Tourist Company and the branch of Viet Nam Railways in Hue.

Besides providing transportation, the tourist railway carriage is also an example of cooperation between railways and tourism to meet the demand for rail travel by both domestic and international tourists, offering a new experience in heritage exploration.

An SE1 train will conduct the daily journey from Hue to Da Nang, providing a view of the beautiful Hai Van mountain pass or Lang Co Bay along a beautiful route in central Viet Nam. For VND155,000 (US$7) per ticket, tourists can have a relaxed journey with their fellow-travellers.

The 26-berth carriage has been designed following the best contemporary standards of Viet Nam Railways.

According to Nguyen Thanh Khanh, Director of Viet Nam Railways’ branch in Hue, the carriage would be constantly upgraded to provide the best possible facilities to tourists.

The Heritage Path tourist railway carriage will also allow domestic travel agencies to transport tourists more safely with high-quality services to explore world heritage sites in central Viet Nam.

Tran Quang Hao, Director of Hue Tourist Company, said the company would conduct more tours on the Da Nang - Hue and Hue - Quang Binh route, following the success of the Hue - Da Nang tour.
