With the total area of 31,422ha, Phu Quoc National Park is surrounded mainly by three mountains of Ham Ninh, Ham Rong and Ganh Dau and a river system of Cua Can, Duong Dong and Rach Tram. Moreover, Phu Quoc National Park also includes 60km coastline with beautiful beaches such as Thom, Dai, Vung Bau, etc and system of stream and waterfall, namely Da Ban, Da Ngon, Tranh, Tien, etc.

◊ Diversified Flora and Fauna System

The national park owns a rich ecosystem of primeval, secondary and indigo forests. The flora system in the park is very plentiful with more than 1,000 species, including species of wood (melaleuca, anisoptera, beech foliage, etc), species of orchids (Van Hai Lan, Lan Ai La Dep, Am Lan Nui), precious herbal species (multiflorous knotweed, licorice, artemisia, amomum, etc), etc.

Besides, the fauna system is also diversified, including 61 species of mammals, of which 5 species are listed in Viet Nam’s Red Book such as: wolf, white monkey, pileated gibbon, etc; 134 species of birds with 4 ones recorded in Red List of the IUCN and 3 ones listed in Viet Nam’s Red Book; 47 species of reptiles, of which 9 ones listed on the IUCN list and 18 species listed in Viet Nam’s Red Book, etc. The ideal time to observe animals in Phu Quoc National Park is sunrise for monkeys, sunset for giant bats and night for nocturnal wildcats and owls.

The sea creatures in Phu Quoc National Park are also varied with coral reefs with different shapes, sizes. It is also home to 89 hard coral species, 19 soft coral species, 125 fish species, 132 mollusc species, 32 echinoderm species, 62 seaweed species, 9 seagrass species; many of which are rare species such as tridacna gigas, trochus niloticus, dugong, etc.
