Hoi An – Japan Cultural Exchange

(TITC) - In two days of 18th and 19th October 2014, the delegation of Hoi An City (Quang Nam Province) including 35 representatives of typical enterprises and Japanese living and working in Hoi An will participate in the 12th Hoi An – Japan Cultural Exchange Festival 2014 in Sakai City, Osaka Province, Japan.

Hoi An – Japan Cultural Exchange Festival is a specific cultural event organized annually since 2003 in Hoi An City. In 2014, the festival is held in Japan for the first time to celebrate the 41st anniversary of diplomatic relationship between the two countries (1973 – 2004); respond to the 41st Sakai – Japan Festival 2014 (19th October); and celebrate 15th anniversary of Hoi An Ancient Town - World Cultural Heritage Site (1999 – 2014) and 5th anniversary of Cham Islands - World Biosphere Reserve (2009 – 2014). Through the festival, Hoi An desires to introduce Vietnamese country and people and also achievements in 11 years of Hoi An – Japan exchange and cooperation to Japanese people and international tourists.

Besides activities held regularly in the previous festivals such as exhibition on craft products of Quang Nam Province and Japan, Japanese origami, Hoi An and Japanese folk games, Haiku calligraphy, photographing with Yukata clothing, art performance..., the Hoi An – Japan Cultural Exchange Festival 2014 also offers many new and attractive programs, of which highlights are the display of photos and items with title “Hoi An – Past – Present”; display of images and information on activities of Japanese living and working in Hoi An with the theme “The cherry blossom in Hoi An”, documentary film show of “Hoi An Ancient Town” and “Cham Islands World Biosphere Reverse” with Japanese subtitles. In addition, many other exciting activities will also be organized in the framework of the festival such as: photo gallery “11 years of  Hoi An-Japan-Sakai exchange and cooperation”; try making Hoi An lanterns; introduction of Hoi An and Japanese cuisine; Japanese calligraphy exchange; choir performance; promotion activities of tours “Discovering Cham Islands”, “Ancient Japan”, “Discovering Cam Thanh Village by bicycle” and events in 2014, 2015...

The annual organization of Hoi An - Japan Cultural Exchange Festival is a clear evidence for good relationship strengthening and developing incessantly in all fields between Viet Nam and Japan.
