Oktoberfest expected to draw 18,000 in Viet Nam

The 22nd Oktoberfest in HCMC and the 5th Oktoberfest in Ha Noi will be organized in mid-October with expectations to lure about 18,000 attendees.

The event will be conducted by the German Embassy in Viet Nam, the German consulate general in HCMC and the German Business Association (GBA). Especially, the Oktoberfest in HCMC is ranked among the Top Ten Oktoberfest outside of Germany’s Munich, according to Reuters.

Participants in the events can enjoy authentic atmosphere found in the massive beer halls of the original Oktoberfest in Munich with German cuisine and premium imported German brews and authentic Bavarian music from the band “Gaukis Bavaria” in HCMC and the “Anton Showband” in Ha Noi.

The Oktoberfest in HCMC will take place on October 10-11 and on October 14-18 at the Windsor Plaza Hotel Saigon in District 5, the popular venue for nine consecutive years. Last year the event attracted over 14,000 visitors with the peak of over 2,000 people each day.

The Oktoberfest in Ha Noi which is teamed up by GBA and the JW Marriot Hotel has a specially designed tent “Festzelt” like in Munich on the original “Wiesn,” another name of the Oktoberfest.

Oktoberfest is the world’s largest funfair held annually in Munich and Bavaria, Germany. It is a 16-day festival running from late September to the first weekend in October with more than six million people from around the world attending the event every year.

The Oktoberfest is an important part of the Bavarian culture, having been held since 1810.
