The Lao Cai provincial Tourism Steering Committee has introduced several new tourism products including launch of a spiritual tourism route along the Red River through the provinces of Phu Tho, Yen Bai and Lao Cai on August and a flower garlands and coloured lanterns festival in combination with a street festival in Sapa on September 6.

The province will also offer a 30% discount on accommodation and entertainment services and reduce entrance fees to some tourist areas as part of the stimulus package, the committee said.

It noted that the Noi Bai – Lao Cai highway will open in September 2014, the Lao Cai airport and a golf course will be built in Bat Xat District and a few five-star hotels in Sapa and Lao Cai city will open later this year.

These activities aim to promote the image of Lao Cai as a safe, friendly and attractive destination to both domestic and foreign tourists, the committee said.
