UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova has pledged to continue assisting Thua Thien-Hue province in protecting and preserving its cultural heritage values.
The UNESCO Director General praised the province's efforts in cultural management and added that UNESCO will help the province fight climate change, and provide knowledge and experience where needed.

The statements were made during the working visit by UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova to the tangible and intangible cultural heritages recognized by UNESCO in the central province of Thua Thien - Hue on June 23.

During the reception, chairman of Thua Thien - Hue provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Cao thanked UNESCO for its support, help and cooperation for the province over the past years.

The visit took place at a time when the province is preparing to mark the 20th anniversary of UNESCO's recognition of Hue's relics as a world cultural heritage, and 10 years since Hue royal music was named as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Over the past 30 years, UNESCO has helped the province to implement many projects preserving and restoring its cultural relics.

The visit by Irina Bokova once more contributed to promoting effective cooperation between UNESCO and Thua Thien - Hue province.
