The festival was one of the activities held to mark the 123rd anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birth and was jointly organised by the provincial Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism and the A Luoi district People's Committee.

The biannual festival attracted over 600 members of local ethnic minority groups such as the Pa Co, Ta Oi, Pa Hy and Co Tu from A Luoi, Nam Dong, Phu Loc, Phong Dien and Huong Tra communes, as well as artists and athletes from the Thua Thien-Hue Provincial Border Guard High Command.

Nearly 60 special performances featuring folk music and dances, as well as a fashion show presenting the traditional costumes of ethnic minorities in the mountainous areas of Thua Thien-Hue, were scheduled during the event. The festival also featured volleyball, stick pushing and tug of war tournaments.

An exhibition of photographs and objects highlighting Vietnam's diverse ethnic cultures as well as its territorial integrity and sovereignty over its borders, seas and islands was also on display.

On the occasion, district and provincial leaders burned incense and laid a wreath at the President Ho Chi Minh Temple in A Luoi district.

The event, which is an annual highlight for local ethnic minorities, aims to promote their traditional cultures and promote tourism in the province.
