Cuc Phuong National Park named leading destination in Asia

The Cuc Phuong National Park in the northern province of Ninh Binh has been named Asia's Leading Destination by the World Travel Awards for the second consecutive year.

The World Travel Awards was established in 1993 to recognize and reward all aspects of the tourism industry.
In 2020, the Cuc Phuong National Park surpassed many big opponents like Chitwan National Park of Nepal, Kinabalu National Park of Malaysia, Komodo National Park of Indonesia to receive the highest number of votes for the title of Asia's Leading Destination.
The tittle continues to affirm the attractiveness of ecotourism - one of the key tourism types of Vietnam's tourism industry.
The Cuc Phuong National Park is about 120km from the capital city of Hanoi. It spans three provinces, namely Ninh Binh, Hoa Binh and Thanh Hoa.
Covering an area of over 22,000 hectares, Cuc Phuong is a typical model of Southeast Asian tropical forests. As it is home to more than 2,200 higher plant species (including many rare orchids, medicinal plants and many species of trees are listed in the Red Book of Vietnam), 122 species of reptiles, 2,000 species of insects, 1,900 species of invertebrates, 659 species of vertebrates (many rare mammals such as Delacour langurs), Cheetahs, Ursus tibetanus) and more than 300 species of birds.
In particular, Cuc Phuong boasts the most diverse range of birds in the northern region of Vietnam, including many rare species such as red-headed woodpeckers and white pheasants. 
The diversity of ecosystem in the Cuc Phuong National Park has made it a popular destination for nature lovers.There are a lot of activities to discover in the Cuc Phuong National Park like cycling, walking in the pristine forest, watching wild animals at night, and visiting the rescue center of primate and pangolins. 
Besides, Cuc Phuong also attracts tourists by its famous landscapes such as May Bac (the highest mountain in Cuc Phuong forest with an altitude of over 600m), Yen Quang lake (where visitors can experience kayaking) and Prince Cave.
The ideal time for visitors to explore the Cuc Phuong National Park is in the dry season (from November to May next year). Especially in April or May, visitors will have an opportunity to get a better view of colourful butterflies with more than 400 species.
With its rich and diverse ecosystem, the Cuc Phuong National Park has become a popular destination among domestic and foreign tourists in the past few years.
