Ha Noi receives more than 13.1 million visitors in first half of 2018

Ha Noi welcomed more than 13.1 million tourists in the first half of this year (a year-on-year rise of 10%), with around 3 million foreign visitors (up nearly 26%) and over 10.1 million domestic arrivals (up 6%).  

Total revenue from tourism is estimated at VND39.212 trillion, up 9.3% over the same period last year.

The general picture shows that tourist arrivals to the capital city in June and the previous five months maintained a stable upward trend.

Some destinations have attracted a large number of visitors such as Huong Son Pagoda with 1,409,675 visitors in the first half of this year (up 12%), Van Mieu Temple of Literature with 1,008,600 visitors (up around 15%) and Ngoc Son Temple with 468,100 visitors (equal to the same period last year).

Destinations in Ba Vi district received more than 1.1 million visitors in the first five months of this year (up 9.17%) and around 380,000 in June (up 3% against the same period last year).

The average occupancy rate of hotels over the six months was estimated at 66.47%, with most foreign visitors coming from the Republic of Korea, China and Japan. The occupancy rate of five-star hotels also remained high, with many at more than 80%, such as JW Marriott (88%), InterContinental Hanoi (90%), Melia Hanoi (80%), Golden Silk (81%), and Hilton Garden Inn (85%).

Ha Noi was honoured to be presented with the best marketing campaign award at the closing session of the eighth Tourism Promotion Organisation for Asian-Pacific Cities (TPO) Forum on June 24 in Ho Chi Minh City.
