HCM city - New Delhi direct air route to be launched

The low-cost carrier Vietjet Air is scheduled to open a direct air route from Ho Chi Minh city to New Delhi by the end of 2018, said the Ambassador of India to Vietnam Parvathaneni Harish.

The connection (four flights per week) is expected to create strong growth of travelling, especially Vietnamese tourists to India.

Currently, Viet Nam has three international airports serving flights from Viet Nam to India and vice versa, including Noi Bai (Ha Noi), Tan Son Nhat (Ho Chi Minh city) and Da Nang.

Meanwhile, airlines which are operating flights between the two countries are Vietnam Airlines, Jet Airways, Qatar Airways, Malaysia Airlines, Thai Airways, and Singapore Airlines.

According to statistics of the India tourism industry, the number of Vietnamese tourists to India saw positive growth over the past three years with about 50,000 arrivals in 2017. This year, India expects to welcome about 70,000-75,000 Vietnamese travelers.
