APEC 2017: Da Nang’s tourism sector well prepared

The tourism sector of the central city of Da Nang has made efforts to ensure the best conditions for the upcoming APEC Economic Leaders’ Week.

The municipal Department of Tourism has instructed local hotels to serve the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week in terms of accommodation, security, food safety, and services.

Six tours have been developed to serve reporters during the Week, namely Ngu Hanh Son Mountain – Cham museum, Ba Na Hills, Ngu Hanh Son – Hoi An Ancient Town, Da Nang – Hue Ancient City, Than Tai Mountain; and boat tours on the Han River.

Video clips have been made to promote local tourism, plus three kiosks displaying tourism handbooks in the international media centre. The APEC Da Nang 2017 Smile Campaign has been launched across the city.

Local tourism agencies, hotels and the management board of Son Tra peninsula were instructed not to organize tours to the peninsula during the APEC Summit Week from November 2-11.

Besides preparation for the event in terms of infrastructure facilities and human resources, the sector has also directed local hospitality training institutions to enhance skills for staff at resorts, restaurants and hotels. About 13,500 hospitality workers will serve guests during the week.

The APEC Economic Leaders’ Week is expected to bring together heads of state and some 10,000 delegates from 21 APEC member economies.

Established in 1989, APEC comprises Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, China, Hong Kong (China), Indonesia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, the Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, the US, and Viet Nam.
