The second National Mountain Climbing Championships entitled "Conquer Mount Fansipan" will take place in Sa Pa, Lao Cai province, on November 14, 2008.
The tournament is expected to attract nearly 300 climbers, double the number of participants in 2007. This is a good chance to promote Lao Cai’s tourism in particular and Vietnam’s tourism in general to international friends. Vietnam Airlines and nine other sponsors will provide more than VND 700 million in total for the event.
The organising board said that preparations for the tournament have been basically completed. According to the new rules, all domestic and foreign athletes who are aged between 18 - 45 years can register to join the sponsored 25 km-long tourney.
