Ao dai festival closing ceremony to be broadcast live

The closing ceremony of Ho Chi Minh City Ao dai festival 2017, which will take place at 18:30 on March 17th at Gem Centre Convention Centre, District 1, will be broadcast live on HTV channel of Ho Chi Minh City Television.


Accordingly, Ao dai by 11 designers such as Sy Hoang, Lien Huong, Viet Hung, Dinh Hai, Minh Chau, Thu Thuy, Anh Tuan, Tuan Hai and Ngo Nhat Huy, will be shown. In addition, 40 children will perform in Ao dai designed by Sy Hoang from the previous Ao dai painting contest.

The organizing board sent invitation letters to 26 Consulate Generals in Ho Chi Minh City to the closing ceremony and will present Ao dai to them and their spouses.

According to vice chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Tran Vinh Tuyen, the city has decided to organize the festival every March 3rd.

The festival, themed ‘Ao Dai – I Love Viet Nam’, officially kicked off on Nguyen Hue pedestrian street in Ho Chi Minh City on March 3rd.

The event features a series of cultural events, such as exhibition on Ao dai and a street photography competition on Ao dai in Nguyen Hue pedestrian street; Ao dai fashion shows at the Ao dai Museum, the Southern Women's Museum and the municipal Youth’s Cultural House; and a parade titled ‘I love Viet Nam’ featuring more than 3,000 women wearing Vietnamese traditional Ao dai on Nguyen Hue pedestrian street.

It aims to honour the culture of traditional Vietnamese dresses throughout different periods of time and promote Ao dai to foreign visitors.
