Spring flower festival opens in Ho Chi Minh City to welcome New Year

Ho Chi Minh City’s annual spring flower festival began at Tao Dan Park, District 1 on January 22 to welcome the Lunar New Year (Tet).

Orchid arrangements are showcased at the festival, including Dendrobium Sunny, Ho Diep, and numerous orchids from Vietnamese forests, namely Thuy Tien, Long Tu, Dai Y Thao, Hac Dinh, Gia Hac, Ngoc Diep.

Ceramic flowers, aquarium bonsai, and yellow apricots from Ho Chi Minh City, Tien Giang, An Giang, Dong Thap are also on show.

The festival also features agricultural models and dozens of other flowers, such as rose, pine trees and cactuses.

Flowers are also used to decorate the main entrances to the festival on Truong Dinh and Nguyen Thi Minh Khai streets.

On the occasion, the municipal Department of Transport, the organiser of the event, presented 1,000 festival tickets and 1,000 bus fares for local workers to enjoy the festival and the holidays in the city during Tet.

The festival will run until February 2, 2017.
