Ha Noi Ao dai Festival 2016 to kick off in October

The Ha Noi Ao dai Festival 2016, taking place from October 14 – 16 at Thang Long Imperial Citadel, is part of activities to honour Ha Noi’s cultural values and promote fashion-based tourism products.

Do Dinh Hong, Director of the capital’s Department of Tourism, made the announcement at a press conference on October 6. 

Themed “The Quintessence of Viet Nam’s Ao Dai”, the festival will include exhibitions, art and cultural activities featuring the beauty of the Ao dai (traditional Vietnamese dress). Workshops on preserving the Ao dai’s traditional values will also be held during the event. 

Collection of past and present Ao dai will be displayed along with materials and old looms used to make the traditional costume at an exhibition entitled “Ha Noi’s Ao dai Festival”. 

This year’s event will highlight the grace of Ha Noi’s Ao dai which reflects Thang Long’s traditional features, said designer Minh Hanh. 

Visitors can also enjoy Ha Noi’s cuisine, cyclo and motorbike parades and have their own ao dai made at the event.
