Int’l art troupes enthrall Ha Noi audiences in May
Update: May 05, 2016
Several international performing art troupes will present their performances in Ha Noi capital city in early May, according to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Accordingly, the Kuban Cossack Chorus, one of the leading folklore ensembles in Russia will be on stage at the Viet Nam National Academy of Music on May 6. The event is to honour the 71st anniversary of Russia’s Victory Day (May 9, 1945- May 9, 2016).

Founded in 1811, the Kuban Cossack Chorus has been an emblem and the pride of Russia’s traditional arts. It was the Voice of the Sochi Winter Olympics in 2014.

On May 7, a traditional dance group from Sri Lanka will be on stage at Hong Ha Theatre, presenting a series of iconic performing arts including traditional ritual dances of Kandya, Sabaragamuwa and Low country.

Artists from Colombia’s Chango Foundation (Fundación de Música del Pacifico Changó) will entertain capital audiences with traditional folk music and dances at the Cong Nhan (Workers) Theatre on May 4.

Founded in 2004, Chango aims to preserve, strengthen and spread traditional music from Colombia’s South Pacific Coast. The group’s music, which includes pango, patacore and caramba, among many other genres, reflects the unique cultural makeup of the region, including its African influence.

Chango has been recognised for their involvement in international music festivals, including the International Festival of Currulao. Currently the group works in six municipalities in Colombia with more than 2,500 young talented people.
