Of the total, the visitors travelling by air accounted for the biggest percentage (82.0%) with 984,013 arrivals, rising 47.5% over the same period of 2016.
China continued to be the leading market sending tourists to Viet Nam with approximately 403,663 arrivals in Feb, up 63% over last month and 84.4% over the same period of 2016.
The following leading markets are Republic of Korea (192,572 arrivals, up 35.4%); Taiwan (64,314 arrivals, up 22%); USA (63,519 arrivals, up 5.6%); Japan (63,279 arrivals, up 6.7%). Particularly, the number of Russian visitors to Viet Nam saw a sharp increase of 91.9% in this month with 59,463 arrivals.
Notably, the number of visitors from 5 European countries including UK, Germany, Italy, Spain, France continued to grow. Of which, there were 26,861 British arrivals (+17.8%); 26,536 French arrivals (+21.4%); 21,495 German arrivals (+19.9%); 5,188 Italian arrivals (+24.2%); and 3,588 Spanish arrivals (+35.8%).
Tourist markets in ASEAN region also recorded positive growth. In particular, visitors from Laos reached 17,661 arrivals, up 132%; and visitors from Cambodia reached 22,861 arrivals, increasing 131.7% in comparison with the same period last year.
The figure recorded in Feb added to the total number of int’l visitors to Viet Nam in the first two months of this year of 2.2 million arrivals, up 33% over the same period of 2016.
