Director General Nguyen Van Tuan meets representatives of TAT in Viet Nam

(TITC) – On 21 January 2016, Director General of Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT), Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan had a meeting with representatives of Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) in Viet Nam, Former Director Chutathip Chareanlarp and Director Nappasorn Kakai.

Speaking at the meeting, Director General Nguyen Van Tuan appreciated effective contributions of Ms. Chutathip Chareanlarp to boosting tourism cooperation between Viet Nam and Thailand. In the last 4 years, the tourism relationship between the two countries has been improving significantly, in addition to the stable number of exchange tourists.

The two sides supported each other to organize and take part in various tourism events, tourism promotion activities, besides in collaboration to receive famtrips, presstrips from the third country. The ASEAN Friendship Caravan, for example, was organized through 4 countries of Thailand, Laos, Viet Nam and Cambodia from 7-16 January 2016, as part of strategy to promote greater intra-regional travel within the ASEAN countries.

Congratulating Ms. Nappasorn Kakai, new director of TAT in Viet Nam, Director General Nguyen Van Tuan hoped that she would significantly contribute to strengthening tourism cooperation relationship between Viet Nam – Thailand. In the coming time, the two countries would jointly utilize the advantages of ASEAN cooperation, Mekong-Sub region, East-West Economic Corridor to further develop tourism.

The two sides should focus on attracting more tourists from European, North-American markets, particularly countries exempted from visas into Viet Nam and Thailand.

Director General Nguyen Van Tuan also introduced the important tourism events in Viet Nam in 2016 such as Viet Nam International Travel Mart-VITM 2016 in Ha Noi (3-7 April), Beach-Leisure and MICE Travel Mart-BMTM 2016 in Da Nang (24-26 June), International Travel Expo Ho Chi Minh City – ITE HCMC 2016 (9-12 September), Asian Beach Games – ABG 5 in Da Nang (24 September- 3 October) and invited TAT to participate in and share experiences of tourism development at those events.

At the meeting, Former Director of TAT in Viet Nam Chutathip Chareanlarp appreciated strong support of VNAT for her and affirmed her continued assistance to VNAT in promoting tourism in Thailand in her new position.

Ms. Nappasorn Kakai informed that there will be more direct flights connecting Bangkok with Da Nang City in next May which would facilitate visitors to attend in events in Da Nang. She promised to make efforts in enhancing good relationship between Viet Nam and Thailand.
