The festival, held from April 7 to 13 in all communes and districts in Ben Tre province, offered a good chance to introduce the land and people of Ben Tre, attract investment and boost co-operation in economics, culture and tourism.
A series of activities, including a coconut road, a Southern cuisine festival and the Miss Coconut Land beauty contest, as well as workshops, and exhibitions on coconut products, were held during the festival.
The highlight of this year’s festival was the ‘Coconut Land Festival’ programme, which was held for the first time in the 164 communes and towns of the province with the participation of 1,000 teams and thousands of individuals. The programme was held to preserve, introduce and promote the unique cultural features of Coconut land’s people.
This year’s event drew delegates from 250 domestic and international businesses covering nearly 700 booths, with on-site sale turnover of VND 20 billion.
At the closing ceremony, the organising board honoured local farmers as well as scientists, researchers and businesses, who have helped to develop the Ben Tre coconut trade mark in Viet Nam and overseas.
They also presented certificates of merit and mementos to businesses that produce arts and handicraft products who had won a competition during the festival to create products from the coconut tree.
