Dak Lak strives to attract investment and develop tourism

(TITC) - On 16th April 2014, People’s Committee of Lak District (Dak Lak Province) organized a conference on strategy for development of Lak District’s tourism in the period from 2014 to 2020 including solutions to attract investment, develop tourism infrastructure and strengthen linking for tourism development and promotion.

Accordingly, Lak District will focus on investment in developing various types of tourism associated with specific values of the space of gong culture in Central Highlands, prioritizing development of community – based tourism, elephant tourism and areas of Jun, MLieng villages and Lien Son Town in order to develop Lak District into a key national destination.

Lak District is considered to boast great potentials for development of ecotourism and cultural tourism. In particular, the national tourist attraction of Lak Lake with an area of 166ha consists of 4 zones: tourist areas of Ma Lieng, Jun villages, Lien Son Town and wildlife and ecotourism area. In addition, Lak District is endowed with some ecological sites as Lak Lake, Bim Bip Falls (Yang Tao Commune), Nam Ka Forest and Cu Yang Sin National Park and the district is also famous for special indigenous culture of M’nong and Ede people. Recently, the district has increased investment in improving the quality of tourism facilities and promotion to lure more visitors. As a result, Lak District welcomed 223,000 tourist arrivals from 2010 until now and tourism receipt reached VND 51 billion.

At the conference, participants discussed and mentioned numerous solutions to develop Lak District into an eco-tourist destination of Dak Lak Province and the country. Accordingly, the district should develop a master plan for tourism development. Along with perfecting management mechanism, attracting investment, training human resources, the district should develop typical tourism products. Besides, Lak District also needs to take steps to protect the ecological environment and improve service quality.
