At the ceremony in Hanoi on August 28, Vice-Admiral Nguyen Van Hien, Deputy Minister of National Defence and Commander of the Vietnam People’s Navy, presented 21 pieces of sovereignty stones to representatives of 54 Vietnamese ethnic groups at the village.
This will be a cultural symbol of Vietnam’s sea and islands at the “common house” of the 54-groupVietnamese community.
Vice-Admiral Hien said that coral stones taken from Truong Sa archipelago will remind younger generations of a sense of responsibility for protecting the country’s sea and island sovereignty integrity.
Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho Anh Tuan said that the 21 stone pieces feature part of the motherland’s flesh and blood in the Culture-Tourism Village of Vietnamese Ethnic Groups.
The presence of those stones in land was of great significance in educating young generations about patriotism and the spirit of solidarity in defending the country’s sacred sovereignty, Tuan noted.
